UV stabilizer in mulch & greenhouse films.

UV Stabilizer Masterbatch

Plastics that survive Indian sun, season after season.

UV Stabilizer Masterbatch is a UV stabiliser additive package on a polyolefin carrier that protects PE and PP products from photo-oxidative degradation and extends outdoor service life significantly.

A two-stage UV stabilization package combining a light stabiliser with a UV absorber, pre-dispersed in a polyolefin carrier. The absorber filters incoming UV photons; the light stabiliser regenerates after scavenging the radicals UV inevitably forms. Together they hold tensile, elongation and surface gloss through Florida-equivalent UV exposure on agri films, geomembranes, tarpaulins and outdoor cable jackets.

Key benefits

Extended outdoor service life

Delivers multi-year UV resistance for agricultural films, geomembranes and outdoor parts under continuous sun exposure.

Prevents UV-induced degradation

Two-stage light stabiliser and UV absorber system scavenges free radicals and filters UV photons to preserve tensile and elongation properties.

Colour & gloss retention

Maintains original colour, gloss and surface aesthetics through Florida-equivalent UV exposure without yellowing or chalking.

Compatible with all polyolefins

Works with LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE and PP at standard processing temperatures with no pigment shift.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the recommended letdown ratio?

Letdown ratio depends on the target Florida-hour grade, polymer type and end-use. Lower UV-hour grades for agri film require less than long-life geomembrane grades. The higher the required service life, the higher the required dose. Combining with Black Masterbatch can improve UV synergy. We confirm the grade and loading against your application requirements.

Which resins is it compatible with?

Standard polyolefin carrier suits HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and PP. Dedicated grades are formulated for PVC (cadmium-free, non-discolouring) and EVA (sulphur-resistant grades for greenhouse film exposed to fumigants). Each grade specifies polymer compatibility and processing window on the datasheet.

How does the UV stabiliser chemistry work?

Two complementary mechanisms. The UV absorber part absorbs UV photons and dissipates the energy as heat, preventing photolysis of the polymer backbone. The light stabiliser part does not absorb UV directly, it scavenges the radicals formed by any photo-initiated degradation, regenerating itself in a cyclic mechanism. The absorber stops initiation; the light stabiliser interrupts propagation.

What Florida UVI hours are achievable?

Our grades span short-term indoor protection through multi-year outdoor weathering, tested to Florida-equivalent UV exposure. Actual service life depends on substrate gauge, geographic UV index and synergistic pigments. Contact us with your end-use, substrate and target service life for a matched grade recommendation.

Can I get a trial sample?

Yes. We supply 1-2 kg trial samples. Specify resin, film or part gauge, target service life and geographic UV exposure (tropical, temperate, high-altitude); we ship a matched grade with a Certificate of Analysis. Sample shipping is free within India; export samples available with freight at cost.

What’s the lead time?

Standard grades ship in 7-14 working days. Custom formulations matched to a specific Florida-test hour target, pesticide-resistant agri film or pigmented system take 3-4 weeks. We confirm an exact timeline at the quote stage.
